GDPR Consent

Category: Checkout · Tier: Starter tier (and Pro, Agency) · Marketing page →

What it does

Article 7-compliant split opt-in for marketing consent at checkout. Stores hashed IPs and timestamped consent records audit-friendly.

Why it matters

Most checkout plugins bundle marketing opt-in with the order terms — explicitly illegal in EU under GDPR Article 7. Asteris ships compliant out of the box.

Where to find it

In WordPress admin: ★ Asteris Cart → Modules → GDPR Consent. The module is enabled by default on every fresh install of a Starter-or-higher licence — disable from the same page if you don”t want it.

Per-module settings live under that same page once enabled. Global module on/off lives at ★ Asteris Cart → Modules (the master switch grid).

Settings reference

Required vs optional consent items (terms / marketing / data sharing), consent record storage (DB / external log), display style (checkboxes / toggles), consent log export (CSV), retention policy (default 7 years).

Tips

Even if you’re not EU-based, the split opt-in pattern is a strong default — it’s what marketing tools like Klaviyo and Mailchimp recommend for cleaner lists.
